A Story of Endurance in Hard Times: Priya Yashini

Priya Yashini is a five-year-old girl, studying in UKG at Citizen School, who suffers from a rare disease where cholesterol gets visibly deposited near her joints: feet, elbows, and hips.

The family[s primary breadwinner is Priya Yashini’s father, Manikandan who earns Rs.18,000/- per month as a driver. Her mother, Sumati, works part-time as a domestic help and takes care of Priya and their two other children. Loans to be repaid , the rental expenses and Manikandan’s alcoholic habits have strained the income and efforts to run the household.

After initial treatment at C V Raman Nagar Hospital, Priya has been referred to Victoria Hospital for further treatment. As per the results of medical examination, she requires regular treatment and is hence enrolled with the CNP program.
