Bili Boro belongs to a migrant family from Assam. She moved to Bangalore with her husband in search of better opportunities five years ago. The couple have one son. Back home in Assam, her brother-in-law cultivates their fields. They receive some financial support from this but it is not sufficient to sustain their life in the city. The sudden change in language, culture, and environment has also not been easy on the family. However they have worked hard to adapt themselves to this change. Bili’s husband works long hours while she looks after their household. An opportunity to learn tailoring gave her the chance to also contribute to building up her family.
After joining the IGP program, she has not only gained skills as a tailor, she has also discovered that she enjoys teaching other members of the community. Her story is testament to the resilience of women and mothers that pushes them to achieve new heights every day.
