A Story of Resilience: Jerlin

Jerlin is a young girl who is currently pursuing II PUC. Her family consists of five members. Her father works in Dubai as a driver. Her mother has a small vegetable business. Her two sisters are also studying. Jerlin struggles with her studies because of tension at home. Her father took a loan in order to move abroad for work. Although he is sending some money each month, it is insufficient to support the needs of the home, the education of the children, and repayment of the loans.

Jerlin’s mother, Jesintha, is struggling to make ends meet, and in her anger towards the father, she ends up screaming at her children. Her health is also quite poor. She is unable to sustain her business. She is also suicidal.

Considering all these things, the ES team has decided to support Jerlin’s family with dry ration kits. They even supported her education briefly. Jerlin has managed to earn an income by working at Muthoot Finance, but she finds her subjects difficult to pursue.  A follow up with the family has been scheduled.
